PROFESSIONAL SCRUM MASTER™ I Training Course
The Professional Scrum MasterTM level I (PSM I) assessment is open to anyone who wants to validate their depth of knowledge of the Scrum framework and its practical application. Those who successfully pass the assessment will receive the industry-recognized PSM I Certification, demonstrating their foundational level of Scrum mastery.
While taking a course is not mandatory, if you believe you already have a strong grasp of Scrum, an understanding of the Scrum Guide, and experience in applying Scrum within Scrum Teams, you can opt to take the PSM I assessment directly. However, there are courses available that can help you prepare for the assessment and deepen your understanding of Scrum. Depending on your role, either the 2-day Professional Scrum Foundations or Professional Scrum Master course is highly recommended.
Course Overview
In this two-day class*, students are challenged to explore Agile and Scrum principles, enabling them to better understand how to apply Scrum effectively in support of their teams and organizations.
The course, developed by Scrum.org, combines instructor-led sessions with activity-based learning, where students work together in teams. Professional Scrum Trainers (PSTs) bring their own Scrum Master experiences and stories to the class, using their skills as professional trainers to deliver the material in a unique and engaging way. This results in an enjoyable learning experience where students gain a deep understanding of Scrum theory and principles, the responsibilities of the Scrum Master, and the importance of each element of the Scrum framework.
Upon completion of the course, students will have an appreciation for Professional Scrum, the agile mindset, and how to address common myths and obstacles to agility. They will gain the knowledge and understanding needed to select and apply the most beneficial practices and techniques for their Scrum Teams.
