Presentation Skills
- Delivery of a pre-prepared presentation on a subject chosen by the delegate, relevant to their professional role.
Note: The duration of each delegate's presentation will vary based on the overall course length and the number of participants. An ideal cohort size is eight participants.
- Comprehensive one-to-one and group feedback sessions
Preparing a Presentation
- Preparation questions for the presenter to consider:
- Why am I the right person for this?
- Logistics: what is the topic, where is it held, when does it take place, how will it be delivered, and how long will it last?
- Understanding how the answers to these questions influence the presentation's structure
- Structuring the content:
- Research – gaining deep knowledge of the subject
- Organizing the content logically
- Creating and utilizing complementary visual aids
Preparing the Presenter
- The three fundamental communication tools for any presenter:
- Verbal – selecting appropriate language and avoiding slang or jargon
- Vocal – mastering tone and sound while avoiding distracting verbal tics or unnecessary fillers
- Visual – managing personal appearance: attire, body language, and presence
- Rehearsing the presentation and seeking honest feedback from a reliable source
- Strategies for managing nervousness
Preparing the Environment
- Room layouts – understanding how seating arrangements convey underlying messages to the audience
- Utilizing the room to enhance the overall presentation experience
Presentation Skills – Revisited
- Delivery of another presentation (following adequate preparation time).
